Mahmut Celayir (b.1951.Bingöl) completed his art education at Istanbul State School of Applied Fine Arts (1972-76). He continued his art studies in Germany between 1986-2010. The artist’s paintings are in many museums and collections in Turkey and Germany. Mahmut Celayir redefines the role of landscape in Turkish art history, exploring its multifaceted functions in the Postmodern era. His series delves into the landscape’s symbolism, reflecting on personal identity, socio-political dynamics, and the human-nature relationship. Through minimalist and technical elements, he transcends traditional landscape depictions, infusing them with deeper meaning and purpose. These works, showcased in the Anthropological Landscapes-Peykeiran exhibition, invite viewers to contemplate the intricate interplay between art, nature, and human experience.
