As Ruzy Gallery, our first group exhibition titled 'Evvel,' which focuses on the inspiration and aesthetic values that mathematics and art draw from nature, will continue until September 15th. Curated by Begüm Güney, the 'Evvel' exhibition features works by Suat Akdemir, Mahmut Aydın, Nazan Azeri, Melis Buyruk, Mahmut Celayir, Leyla Emadi, Tom Fellows, Gülfem Kessler, Başak Özocak, and Jake Michael Singer. The exhibition explores the relationship between the universal language of mathematics and the mysterious world of art, questioning the origins of existence through the lens of art and examining the connection between plastic arts and mathematics, with a focus on humanity's mathematics.
The exhibition draws inspiration from the words of the renowned English mathematician G.H. Hardy in his book A Mathematician's Apology: 'A mathematician's work must be as beautiful as that of a painter or a poet. Ideas must harmonize just like colors and words. There is no permanent place in the world for ugly mathematics.' The exhibition, which focuses on the relationship between plastic arts and mathematics, invites reflection on the references and aesthetic values both disciplines take from nature by asking the question: What lies in the nature of the human who discovers mathematics?
